The museum is located where the Municipal Market of the city used to be. The exhibition aims to display the antiquities of Messenia from the Prehistoric times until the Byzantine era. Reflecting the old geographical division of the prefecture into four provinces, Kalamata, Messene, Pylia, Trifylia, the exhibition unfolds in corresponding large geographical sections encompassing antiquities from different eras. This peculiarity leads to the design of different types of signs. Color, scale, and lightning, since many signs are self-luminous, are elements that lead to differentiation. The brown color used in metal constructions and the back of the showcases, yellow and purple for the introductory signs, form pieces of the total design puzzle. Colorful and adapted to the demands of educational activities signage, was designed for “the educational program hall”.
